NBA 2016-17 TV Primer

Turner Sports

  • TNT will televise over 20 weeks of Thursday night NBA doubleheaders during the regular season, as well as 10 weeks of Monday night games as part of new agreement with the NBA. TNT’s new Monday night package will premiere on Jan 16, 2017 (MLK Day)
  • TNT will be the exclusive home of NBA All-Star Weekend from New Orleans including the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge (2/17), State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on (2/18) & the NBA All-Star Game simulcasted on TNT & TBS (2/19)
  • Marv Albert and Chris Webber, and Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller are the primary doubleheader broadcast teams with various other talent substituting
  • TNT will televise 40+ NBA Playoff games as well as exclusive coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals
  • NBA TV host nightly studio show highlighting in progress games around the league with a rotation of hosts, analysts and reporters.
  • NBA TV will present almost night simulcasts of NBA games from Regional Networks. Ernie Johnson, Greg Anthony, Chris Webber and Kevin McHale host NBA TV Fan Night on Tuesdays.

  • ESPN & ABC will air over 100 Regular-Season Game on cable and broadcast TV.
  • ESPN will air 82 NBA games, including weekly doubleheaders on Wednesday and Friday nights
  • Christmas Day: ABC will air the NBA Finals rematch between Golden State at Cleveland with four additional games on ESPN and ABC
  • ABC will air nine Saturday Primetime and eight Sunday Showcase games, both beginning in January
  • ESPN has presented a complete repackaging of the production graphics, including new logos for their game and studio coverage
  • Michelle Beadle is the new co-host for NBA Countdown on games airing on ESPN Wednesday and Friday nights. Sage Steele hosts games on ABC in January.  Chauncey Billups and Tracy McGrady (on Wednesdays only) join the returning Jalen Rose as analysts. Doug Collins leaves the studio and will appear as a full-time game analyst
  • Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson lead the broadcast games through the season and postseason, including the NBA Finals. Marc Jones is the new #1 announcer replacing Mike Tirico.  Jones will team mostly with Hubie Brown.
  • ABC and ESPN will both air up to 44 NBA Playoffs games, including exclusive coverage of the Western Conference Finals on ESPN and exclusive coverage of the 2017 NBA Finals on ABC
  • Rachel Nichols returns as host of the daily NBA studio show ‘The Jump’ airing weekdays afternoons with guest NBA Insiders and analysts. Zach Lowe, Scottie Pippen and Tracy McGrady will contribute regularly to the show.  Nichols and Lowe will also contribute to NBA Countdown.
  • Marc Kestecher will be the new lead announcer for NBA on ESPN Radio.
