This is the final posts previewing MLB's TV coverage for the 2013 season. This will be the final season of the current contract, so starting next season there will be significant changes to how you view baseball nationally.
Today we will look at All 30 teams broadcast coverage for their respective team for 2013.
There are 16 MLB teams affiliated under FOX Sport's family of regional networks. The Cleveland Indians self-owned network Sportstime Ohio was purchased by FOX in December 2012 and re-branded. FOX also purchased a 49% stake in the New York Yankees YES Network, but the local branding will remain the same.
FOX Sports is also affiliated with the Direct TV Sports Network owned, ROOT Sports which broadcasts three teams (Colorado, Pittsburgh and Seattle). These combined networks will likely be beneficial for FOX's expansive coverage of MLB next season under their new FOX Sports 1 Network.
Comcast broadcast seven major markets inlcuding its home base in Philadelphia, New York, both local teams in Chicago, as well as both in the Bay Area. Along with joining the American league in 2013, the Houston Astros will move their broadcast to Comcast-Houston.
With YES Network purchased by FOX, there are only two independent networks owned by teams, Mid Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), owned by Baltimore who also own the rights to Washington's television rights after allowing MLB to move them from Montreal. And the New England Sports Network (NESN) is majority owned by Boston Red Sox ownership. The Toronto Blue Jays are under the Rogers Communications umbrella (owned by the corporation, airing on Rogers SportsNet and play in the Rogers Centre in Ontario, Canada).
You can find your favorite team after clicking the break.
