Radio News: Patrick off the air; WFAN to FM

A few radio blurbs in the last few weeks, because people still listen to radio.

*** Dan Patrick announced today that Fox Sports Network will no longer simulcast his radio show.  FSN and 'the Dan Patrick Show' could come to terms on a new deal, leaving the Direct TV produce program without a network distributor.  It is believed NBC will may be in line to be the shows new home for its flailing sports channel, NBC Sports Network.

*** ESPN Radio affiliate 97.1 the Fan in Columbus, Ohio suspended one of its personalities Scott Torgerson for an inappropriate tweet over the weekend.  Torgenson, a Ohio State supporter, sent an offensive tweet directed at ESPN's Game Day Analyst Desmond Howard.

The comment read:
Torgenson tried to back off the quote as a joke, then deleted the comment as well as his twitter account.  Awful Announcing was able to confirm the suspension from the station, as well as a strong rebuke from Howard's wife, Rebkah.

***As reported a week ago, CBS Radio purchased WRXP (101.9) from Merlin Media with the intention to simulcast WFAN on their AM dial to FM.  This is an obvious answer to ESPN's aggressive acquisition of FM station WRKS 98.7.  With the New York Yankees radio rights on the block after 2013, its appears the local radio war in New York City is going to have a different tune (ugh).
